The past year could most definitely be described as one that has been defined by its twists and turns. From health to politics, we’ve all been left waiting for that next unexpected event, and this feeling of 2020 uncertainty has inspired a new jewellery collection by Maya Gemstones.
The Maya Gemstones ZigZag collection is inspired by the shape of the same name, with gold jewellery decorated with diamonds and coloured gemstones. The gold pendants, earrings and stacking rings were formed into zigzags to represent the emotional pull and pull of the past year.
The more luxurious jewels in the collection include feature pink tourmalines and tanzanites in Maya Gemstones’s signature triangular Maya cut – a bespoke take on the trillion that the brand claims offers more luminosity and depth.
Other designs in the collection, which has been crafted in 18ct gold, have been bedecked with round black or white diamonds, or rainbow sapphires.
Each piece in the Maya Gemstones ZigZag jewellery collection has been engraved with the calming phrase: This too shall pass.
“At first I was planning to release a signet ring with the phrase ‘this too shall pass’, but I decided that 2020 needed a bigger commemoration to symbolise its ups and downs, because there has been many,” says Maya Gemstones founder Olga Pekarevskaia.
“The collection has been released just in time for Christmas and we hope that these pieces will be sentimental for those who wear them, and that the secret message inscribed will offer a little light in times of darkness.”
