Renowned Chinese artist jeweller Wallace Chan will host a very special masterclass in jewellery design at The Jewellery Cut Live this September, giving fans of his work a rare chance to see him speak in London.

Chan, who is famed across the world for his innovation in jewellery design and lapidary, has a curiosity and thirst for knowledge that has led to the creation of numerous ground-breaking techniques. As well as being a pioneer in the use of titanium in high jewellery and the setting of gemstones without metal claws, he also created The Wallace Cut in 1987, an illusionary three-dimensional gem carving technique, and won a patent for a technology that can enhance the luminosity of jadeite.

Chan’s latest jewellery invention is The Wallace Chan Porcelain, a porcelain-like material he uses in his jewellery designs that is five times stronger than steel. The material took seven years of research and development to master.

During The Jewellery Cut Live, Chan will host an intimate talk to share the magic and mysteries of his work. He will speak about how, apart from stones, metals and porcelain, his memories and experiences are his greatest materials. Through stories about his life and his latest innovations in titanium and The Wallace Chan Porcelain, he will explain what ‘material’ has meant to him throughout his 45-year creative journey.

The talk, which will be followed by a Q&A session that will allow you to put your own questions to the artist jeweller, will take place at 4.30pm on Sunday, 15^th September, 2019. It will take place on an exclusive private balcony, overlooking historic Regent Street, within the Pompadour Ballroom at Hotel Cafe Royal. Complimentary champagne and refreshments will be served as part of the experience. Tickets to this intimate session are limited, with only 40 places available.

The talk is part of boutique contemporary jewellery show The Jewellery Cut Live, held in the same venue on September 15th & 16th, 2019, during London Fashion Week. Tickets to the talk, which cost £20, will include entry to the jewellery show.

Chan, who is famed across the world for his innovation in jewellery design and lapidary, is visiting London to promote his exhibition Shapeshifter: The Multiverse of Wallace Chan, which will be running from the 14^th to the 17^th of September, 2019, at Asia House in Marylebone.
