While jewellery shows the world over are postponing until next year or morphing into digital-only experiences due to the Coronavirus pandemic, boutique event The Jewellery Cut Live intends to open its doors to visitors on October 11th & 12th, 2020.

Returning for its fifth season, the bi-annual two-day jewellery show, will take over the entirety of historic Mayfair venue The Royal Institution on Albermarle Street. This will allow visitors – a mix of trade buyers, press, industry insiders and the general public – to browse the jewels on display safely. Exhibitors will be spaced out in well-ventilated rooms and all government guidelines will be respected and adhered to. Hand sanitising stations will be provided, traffic flow will be regulated, and staff will adhere to a strict cleaning rota.

The popular jewellery lecture series that accompanies the showcase of contemporary jewellers will also go ahead. These talks will be held within The Royal Institution’s dedicated theatre. The space is built to hold up to 400 spectators, but tickets will be limited to 80 per event to allow for safe social distancing.

The Jewellery Cut co-founder Rachael Taylor said: “Coronavirus has had a huge impact on the jewellery calendar, postponing the majority of events until next year, but we were lucky enough to host our February event just weeks before the British lockdown, and we are hoping to be the first jewellery event to emerge after lockdown.

“This is a time for positivity and for supporting independent creative jewellery talent, which is exactly what The Jewellery Cut was set up to do. Lockdown has been a difficult time for many jewellery designers, and I know they are really excited to get out there once again and showcase their work. After all, fine jewellery is a considered purchase that shoppers want to see up close before buying, and with more focus than ever on the makers behind the jewels, meeting the designers face to face has never been more important.”

The Jewellery Cut Live will feature the work of more than 20 independent jewellery designers, including Melanie Georgacopoulos, Marie Mas, The Rock Hound, Olivia & Pearl, Deborah Blyth, Libby Rak, Noor Shamma, and more. Click here for a full list of designers signed up so far. Those attending the event will be able to meet the designers, browse the jewellery, plan commissions and buy pieces at the event.

The Jewellery Cut co-founder Andrew Martyniuk said: “I’ve been in conversation with some of our VIP clients who usually attend The Jewellery Cut Live, and there’s a real appetite for a jewellery event. After a long lockdown away from jewels – during which many jewellers have reported a rise in sales, suggesting a renewed interest in jewellery amongst consumers – people are keen to get back out there are discover new designers and collections again. As The Jewellery Cut Live is a boutique event, and we will be able to spread out across the entirety of The Royal Institution, we can create a safe space for this to happen and whip up some much-needed positive buzz around our brilliant cohort of independent jewellery designers.”

General entry to the show is free and tickets must be booked in advance through Eventbrite. Guests can also upgrade to a VIP ticket, which includes a glass of wine and goody bag (from £15) or a AAA Pass (from £80), which will give guests all the benefits of the VIP ticket as well as complimentary tea and coffee both days and access to the otherwise invite-only VIP party and unlimited entry to the event’s series of popular talks.
