Reversible additions pep up Dior Rose des Vents

Flip once for simplistic gemstone appreciation, and once again for a full hit of talismanic star power that is instantly recognisable

July 6, 2020 By Rachael Taylor

Dior’s talismanic Rose des Vents jewellery collection has been updated for the summer, with some colourful, reversible new additions.

The compass-like design of the Dior Rose des Vents jewels takes it inspiration from two themes: luck and historic navigation. The pointed star that is the collection’s hallmark takes inspiration from the shape of a wind rose (a navigational device that pre-dates the better-known compass rose) as well as the star that Christian Dior believed to be his own personal good luck charm.

There is a strong focus on transformation within the new additions to Dior Rose des Vents. Necklaces, earrings and bracelets have been designed to be worn two ways – flip once for a colourful, simplistic look that showcases discs of gemstones, flip again to return to the instantly recognisable, star-emblazoned Dior look.

Gemstones celebrated in the new Dior Rose des Vents pieces include emeralds, malachite and lapis lazuli as well as mother-of-pearl and diamond accents.

Joining the wind roses are also other navigational tools of old – the moon, sun and stars. Drawing on elements of the Dior Rose Céleste line, these symbols are recreated in yellow gold and mother-of-pearl on reversible earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

Open rings with Rose Céleste and Rose des Vents designs are topped with discs of gemstone, edged with a what Dior refers to as a “twisted rice grain motif” of textured gold.
