Nadine Aysoy to launch shapely Catena collection

Award-winning jeweller pumps up the volume with curvaceous gold and gemstone jewels that will debut at The Jewellery Cut Live

February 12, 2020 By Sarah Jordan

At The Jewellery Cut Live this week, London fine jewellery brand Nadine Aysoy will launch a new collection of 18ct gold jewellery that balances its recognisable feminine aesthetic with more unisex appeal.

The Nadine Aysoy SS20 Catena Collection, inspired by the Italian word for chain, draws on the theme of connection with golden links that are entirely flexible and adaptable to the wearer. This movement is exemplified in the Catena rings, which are supple like chains and perfectly tactile for everyday wear.

All pieces are crafted in 18ct white, yellow and rose gold with pavé diamonds and coloured gemstones, including sapphire, emerald and ruby cabochons.

“A long time ago, I received a beautiful oval-shaped emerald and I kept it in the safe knowing I would return to it one day,” says founder and designer Nadine Aysoy. “When I finally decided to design a ring, I went for a bold, yet playful piece with a big look, a vintage 1970s feel and a special bezel setting to emphasise the stone. It was a ring I could wear at any time during the day or night.

“On the first day I wore the ring, a young man approached me and said he had fallen in love with the piece. He was so enamoured he asked me to create a replica, so I made one for him as well. This is how the Catena Collection was born.”

The Catena Collection has a gender fluid approach to design that is entirely new for the brand. Its Celeste, Elle et Lui and Tsarina collections are recognised globally for their romanticism and femininity, including nature and snowflake motifs.

The universal appeal of the Catena Collection has been purposefully nurtured to inspire individuals of all ages, and with a wide variety of personalities. Jewels are designed to be worn alone or layered.

“The Catena Collection has been described as Art Deco, a nod to the 1970s and incredibly contemporary – so perhaps it is a blend of all three,” says Aysoy. “I designed the collection to stay true to the Nadine Aysoy ethos, which is to create beautiful fine jewellery that is timeless and wearable. I can’t wait to see how my customers interpret the designs in their own unique ways.”

The Catena Collection includes six collapsible ring designs: three with either a sapphire, emerald or ruby cabochon centre; two with a heart-shaped centre in pink or yellow sapphire pavé; two rings with pink or blue topaz; three large chain rings with white or blue diamonds in a trio of gold hues; three small stacking chain rings connected with diamond pavé loops or fully-set with diamonds; and a diamond engagement ring with a 3.5ct solitaire that is available upon request.

“Since debuting the Catena Collection on Instagram, we have received countless enquiries from future brides about the one-of-a-kind Catena 3.5ct diamond solitaire engagement ring,” says Aysoy. “This piece will be made exclusively for our bespoke customers with their choice of centre stone. While Catena wasn’t envisioned as a bridal collection, we are so inspired by the ways women and men are interpreting pieces to suit the special moments in their own lives.”

An 18ct rose gold ear cuff can be customised with yellow or white diamonds and worn alongside three styles of Catena earrings: stud earrings in yellow or rose gold with white diamonds; two-link earrings in rose, yellow or white gold with white and blue diamonds; and three-link earrings in rose and yellow gold with white diamonds.

The Catena Collection also features a bracelet design and necklace design in both yellow gold and rose gold, set with diamonds.

The inclusion of an 18ct heart-shaped charm in the collection, set with yellow sapphires or pink sapphires, is a first for the Nadine Aysoy brand and reflects the theme of connection that is woven through the Catena story. Charms can be worn on both necklaces and bracelets.
