Pearl experts and designers Claudia Bradby, Melanie Georgacopoulos, Anissa Kermiche and Miranda Raw to host a pearls’ night out at The Jewellery Cut Live

August 29, 2019 By Rachael Taylor

The gleaming lustre of pearls has kept humans entranced throughout the centuries – and more recently, they have captivated fashion editors, as pearls have evolved from twinset staple to catwalk essential. But what is it that we find so alluring about these versatile gems?

Join a panel of pearl experts at The Jewellery Cut Live to find out the answer to this and many more questions about pearls, as they discuss the history of pearls, the iconic women who have worn them, how they are grown and strung, and the latest trends in pearl jewellery.

This pearl masterclass, which will be held at 6pm on 16th of September, will be hosted by Claudia Bradby, a self-confessed pearl obsessive whose eponymous pearl jewellery brand can be bought at jewellery stores across the country. Joining her will be: Melanie Georgacopoulos, who crafts unusual, contemporary pearl designs under her own name as well as designing for Japanese pearl house Tasaki and lecturing on design at Central Saint Martins; Anissa Kermiche, a young jewellery designer whose designs, which often feature pearls, have captured the imagination of the fashion set; and Miranda Raw, whose expertise in pearls has been won at her family business, Raw Pearls, which supplies loose pearls and pearl jewels to many of the world’s jewellers.

As well as hearing from these pearl luminaries, those attending the pearl masterclass will also have the chance to handle loose pearls and pearl jewellery to gain a deeper appreciation of these subaqueous treasures and better understand the different ways they can be worn. There will also be an opportunity to put any questions that you have about pearls to the panel.

The pearl masterclass will be held during boutique jewellery show The Jewellery Cut Live at 6pm on Monday, 16th of September, 2019. It will take place on an exclusive private balcony, overlooking historic Regent Street, within the Pompadour Ballroom at Hotel Cafe Royal. Complimentary champagne and refreshments will be served as part of the experience. Tickets, which cost £20, are limited, with only 40 places available.
