Gucci to roll out new jewels this spring

Vintage-style diamond and gold bees, gothic unisex jewellery and minimalist studded stackables set the tone for Gucci jewels in 2019

January 15, 2019 By The Jewellery Cut

Fashion house Gucci has revealed three new jewellery collections that it will launch this spring. The new designs touch on a diverse palate of inspirations, from gender-neutral jewels to insect jewellery and stackable minimalism.

Tapping into the trend for bug jewellery, new additions to Le Marché des Mervilles – a collection dedicated to Gucci’s most iconic motifs – will centre on the honeybee. Diamond-encrusted yellow and white gold bees dangle from Gucci’s classic interlocked GG logo in bold earrings and necklaces. Each piece has been carved with intricate details that offer up a realistic, almost grotesque, take on bee jewellery, and give the designs a vintage look.

Another luxury jewellery offering this spring will be new ring and bracelet designs in the Gucci GG Running collection. These 18ct yellow and white gold jewels embrace a minimalist style – albeit, still with the classic GG logo included in the design. The stackable jewels are embellished with miniature studs of gold and diamonds that are perfect for everyday wear, with Gucci suggesting that “the rings are perfect for pairing as wedding bands”.

The new Gucci G Cube silver jewellery collection takes its inspiration from a rapidly growing movement for genderless jewels. The necklaces, rings, cuffs and cufflinks have been crafted from silver that has been treated to give it an aged look. There is a somewhat gothic feel to these G Cube pieces, with arabesque designs carved into the silver, chunky cross necklaces and bold G emblems. For an added splash of colour, some pieces have been set with coloured gemstones.
