Every piece of jewellery to emerge from the Nessa Warner studio is crafted by the designer and silversmith herself, making each design a truly authentic and one-of-a-kind expression of her talent.

The Kent-based designer tells us how a sales job in a jewellery store sparked her desire to create silver jewels, and how she has plans to push into creating quirky silver homeware.

Tell us a little bit about your brand.

“I set up my eponymous jewellery brand just three years ago, having spent previous years training with master silversmiths. My creations are both versatile and individual, and the designs are born from a love of body adornment and the inherent beauty of our organic world.”

Where do you find your inspiration?

“I make unique, contemporary pieces and am endlessly inspired by design in general, whether it be in architecture, ceramics, art, furniture, nature or just my imagination. Sometimes, I start out with an idea, but during the making process the metal takes over and dictates the look of the finished item. I’ve learnt it’s best to go with the flow.”

What made you want to become a jewellery designer?

“My first job was as a sales assistant in an independent jewellery store, where I fell in love with diamonds and developed a keen eye for grading them. The store owner offered to sponsor me to study gemmology in London, but my parents would not consent, and life sent me on a non-creative trajectory, away from jewellery completely. Years passed and finally I was in a position to pursue my chosen path.”

Tell us a bit about how your jewels are made.

“I design and handmake my jewellery. No-one else has a hand in it. This way, I can guarantee the authenticity of each piece. It is very important to me that every piece that carries my hallmark is made by me, and me alone.”

Do you have any exciting projects in the pipeline?

“In the year ahead, I think it might be nice to expand a little into creating household accessories. I have made a lovely, rather quirky, tea light holder, which I think has potential and I am currently working on a solid silver lampshade, which is rather special.”
