A wide spectrum of diamond colours dazzle digitally, as bidders battle for upmarket engagement rings and a 20ct Graff rockAugust 17, 2020 By Rachael Taylor
If you are in the market for a piece of investment diamond jewellery or a luxury engagement ring, Christie’s is the site to surf this month. It is currently hosting its Summer Sparkle sale, the auction house’s first ever online sale dedicated solely to diamonds.
Accepting online bids until late August, Christie’s Jewels Online: Summer Sparkle auction is a celebration of colourless and coloured diamond jewellery. Pink, grey, orange, green, brown, yellow… you’ll find almost the full diamond colour spectrum just a couple of clicks away.
The star of this dazzling online auction is a 20.21ct pear-shaped yellow-brown diamond set in a pendant framed by round diamonds, and suspended from a graduated diamond necklace. Unsurprisingly, the creator of this lavish design is diamond maestro Graff, and the jewel is expected to fetch up to $400,000.
Other highlights of the diamond auction, which is a solid hunting ground for upmarket engagement rings, include a fancy brownish-greenish yellow diamond ring of 2.46cts, flanked by tapered baguette-cut diamonds. This could set you back as much as $15,000. Or, should budget allow, another ring worth checking out is a moi et toi pairing of a fancy deep brownish-orange diamond and a colourless diamond in a ring with an upper estimate of $30,000.
Outside of diamond rings, of which there are many, you will also find chandelier earrings, cuffs, colliers and brooches. Many pieces are signed, with jewels up for sale from Cartier, David Morris, Elsa Peretti, Sabbadini, Tiffany & Co and Graff.
Bidding is now open, and will start to close at 10am on 27th of August, 2020.
