Alice Cicolini, the British jewellery designer known for her colourful flashes of enamel and carved gemstones, has created her first collection of bridal jewellery.

Staying true to her aesthetic, the Alice Cicolini bridal collection celebrates colour, with the engagement rings and wedding bands that build on the popular Alice Cicolini Candy Pavé collection of gold rings that are striped with enamel and diamonds.

The colourful gold and enamel engagement rings are topped with a selection of gemstones such as champagne diamonds, white sapphires, blue sapphires, emeralds and rubies. There are also some one-of-a-kind engagement rings within the collection that use rarer gemstones, including a natural purple sapphire and a pink diamond.

“I wanted to develop an approach to stripes that incorporated stones alongside the enamel and allowed me to play with tone-on-tone treatments by exploring using materials in the same colour,” says Cicolini. “The combination of enamel and pavé has a balancing effect, with the enamel modernising the pavé whilst the pavé softens the enamel’s graphic qualities. The result is a collection that is soft and strong, just like the modern woman.”

While the all-white rings with white enamel, diamond pavé and a diamond or white sapphire central stone have a traditional bridal feel, other brighter colour ways will appeal to brides looking for something different. And it is this “21st century bride” that Cicolini is hoping to romance with her wedding jewels.

“The alternative bridal market is growing as women seek pieces that are more expressive,” she says. “As more and more requests for bespoke were coming from engagements it seemed like a logical step for me to offer a small line of bridal pieces.”

Also within the Alice Cicolini bridal collection are Bar Drop earrings in white diamond and white topaz as well as interchangeable hoops set with morganite and champagne diamonds. Though this collection has been curated with brides in mind, the playful, stackable nature of the Candy wedding bands and engagement rings could also appeal to those of us not planning to get hitched. As Cicolini says, these colourful jewels “don’t need to be just for brides”.
